Not Just Gold: EGX30 Surges as Stocks Hit Record Highs

It’s not just gold making headlines—Egypt’s EGX30 index is also surging, with several of its components reaching historic highs. The index closed last week’s session (March 13, 2025) at 31,290 points, marking its highest close since the start of the year. During the session, it briefly touched 31,332 points, its highest level in 2025 so far. Year-to-date, EGX30 is up +5.21%, though it remains -9.31% below its all-time high of 34,501, recorded in March 2024.


A total of 9 out of the 31 stocks in the index are trading near or at record highs, representing 22.85% of the index’s weight. Six stocks reached all-time highs last week, led by Egyptian Aluminium (EGAL), which soared to EGP 174.99 per share, delivering a +50.70% YTD gain.


Among the top performers, Rameda (RMDA) +38.62%, Orascom Development Egypt (ORHD) +36.76%, and EFG Holding (HRHO) +32.13% have all posted YTD gains exceeding 30%, reinforcing the market’s bullish momentum.


Meanwhile, Commercial International Bank (CIB - COMI), the largest-weighted stock in the EGX30 at 25.96%, previously hit its all-time high of EGP 97.50 per share on March 11, 2024, aligning with the index’s record peak of 34,501 points.
