Ezz Steel has announced a major malfunction in the transformer of Meltshop No. 2 at its subsidiary, Ezz Flat Steel (EFS), located in Ain Sokhna, Suez. The 210 MVA transformer has suffered a significant failure.
The manufacturer has been contacted, and initial evaluations estimate that repairs will take approximately nine months. The insurance provider has also been notified, and operations at Meltshop No. 2 have been suspended.
In the interim, EFS will utilize Meltshop No. 1, alternating between slabs and billets casting to produce flat steel and rebars, aligning production with market demand.
